Who We Are

Hello! My name is Ariel Bennett, and I’ve been a writer my whole life. I learned to read at age three, and I wrote my first short story pretty much as soon as I could hold a pencil (it was about dinosaurs). My favorite things to write are personal essays and fantasy stories, although I’ve also written newsletter pieces, how-to articles, and the narration for many dance theater productions.

When I was a kid, my parents read out loud to me. That was the start of a lifelong love of words and how they fit together. I studied English literature at the University of the South in Tennessee and the University of Denver, and I studied creative writing through the Lighthouse Writers Book Project.

While in these programs, I acted as a writing tutor and teaching assistant, as well as providing feedback for other writers through workshops. Helping other authors is very fulfilling to me—I get to suggest ways to trim and polish their words so that the pieces can shine as brightly as possible.

I strive for open communication, friendly feedback, and a positive experience for writers of all backgrounds, identities, genres, and levels. Whether this is your first piece or your fortieth, I'd love to work with you! Fill out the contact form below to get started.
